The Season Of Giving

Once again Jeff Shavlik, the Vice President of Finance System of Green Bay, Inc contributed to the annual Thanksgiving Meal hosted by The Ecumenical Center of Green Bay. This event is traditionally held at the Lambeau Field Atrium, where it provides a warm supper for 2,000 residents in our community.

Although this year was a little different, the goal remained the same. Volunteers prepared and delivered meals to each household. Jeff provided his time as a delivery driver, accompanied by his girlfriend Cathy, daughter Hayley and her friend. As they collected the meals and map, they headed out on their journey of delivering meals to veterans, people with disabilities, seniors, as well as large families that could not provide a Thanksgiving meal.

They began speaking with the recipients of the meals and met a very kind-hearted woman at one of their last destinations, diminishing their uncertainty.
The girls continued speaking with the woman and as they were leaving tears began streaming down their faces.
Entering the vehicle, the tears turned into sobs, elaborating “she wished us a Happy Thanksgiving” and said with excitement, “I get to eat today!” They explained how concerned that made them, but feeling grateful they could give back.

On this day, the girls realized that small acts of kindness can make a big impact and to be thankful for the things you have.
