Garnishment Exemptions Judgment Holders Should be Aware Of
Judgment holders and business owners, alike, must be aware of the garnishment exemptions which can decrease the ability to collect on judgments.
They are as follows:
- Paying child support in excess of 25% of disposable pay
- Receiving food stamps
- At the time of print, 41.9 million people, nationwide, receive this benefit
- Receiving rental or heating assistance
- Receiving social security or disability benefits
- Receiving public assistance for healthcare costs
- Below poverty guidelines
By knowing these exemptions, better decisions on which accounts to pursue legal action can be made more effectively.
Remember, you aren’t investing money for court costs and attorney’s fees to get a piece of paper. You are investing to collect your money owed.
FSGB FACT: 92% of judgments taken on behalf of our clients get payments in the first year
Value Added Service
Filing Bankruptcy Proof of Claims on Behalf of our Clients
After a bankruptcy notice has been received by our staff or our client, our staff will investigate the bankruptcy for assets and file a proof of claim on behalf of our clients.
Finance System of Green Bay, Inc. incurs all costs and filing fees associated with filing a proof of claim and monitors the account for payments. Monies received by Finance System of Green Bay, Inc. would be forwarded to the client each month, like any other payment we receive in our office.
This is just another example how Finance System of Green Bay, Inc. invests our monies to collect your monies.
**KEEP A WATCHFUL EYE! We have been notified by several of our clients that a company called Chapter Holdings, LLC, out of Tennessee, has been sending letters and making phone calls pressuring them to submit information so they can file a proof of claim, on our clients’ behalf, for a fee. You do NOT need to send anything to them. We will handle the filing of proof of claims for accounts we have in our system.
New ClientConnect Feature
New Feature Allows You to Update Payments Entered
If you have been using ClientConnect for some time, you may have noticed a new tab added to your home screen.
The new, “Payments,” tab lists all payments you entered, on the web, but have not been posted, by our office, yet.
In addition to showing you a list of payments you have entered, you are now also able to update or delete a payment that hasn’t posted, yet.
So, if you made an error when entering a payment, online, you can now go to the “Payments” tab and fix the error before the payment even gets posted to the account.
